Julian Joseph OBE, the renowned jazz musician, composer, broadcaster and educator, has offered his support and advice in promoting a young people’s music hub within Colvestone Co-Lab.

Julian has been involved for many years educating and mentoring young musicians at his Julian Joseph Jazz Academy’s workshops in Haggerston’s Bridge Academy. The teaching is rigorous and several alumni have gone on to achieve national and international musical stature.

Julian commented. “There is a huge unmet need in Hackney for young people to have access to learn musical instruments, improvisation, composition and the technical skills to record and produce their work. The potential for a music hub in Colvestone School is obvious and would be of great community benefit.”

Local resident Sam Shepher (aka Floating Points) offers his advice and support. He commented, “For education and cultural nourishment within the community, I wholeheartedly support this application.”
