New School of Furniture Making
The New School of Furniture Making offers short courses in craft and joinery, led by Hackney-based furniture maker Emma Leslie.
Located in Dalston alongside the London School of Architecture, Emma advises students and leads outreach with young people whilst also teaching woodwork to children and teens through local trusts. Emma, trained at the Building Crafts College, is the first woman to win major national carpentry awards.
Since founding the School in 2014, New School of Furniture Making has focused on accessible woodworking education, especially for young people, promoting mental wellbeing and empowerment through hands-on craft skills in an inclusive environment.
New School of Furniture Making wish to expand their facilities into a larger dedicated workshop with access to an outdoor space. The workshop will be used to house machinery, accommodate larger classes, and display student work.
